1. Establishment of a forest seedling nursery
Production of this video began with the development of the script by the Access Agriculture team in collaboration with the Mali team composed of Sanogo Sidi, Seydou Tangara, Aliou Badara Kouyate, Sidiki Gabriel Dembélé, Sissoko Fagaye, Amadou Traoré, and Salouma Macalou. Discussions with the partners in Mali were facilitated by Fernando Sousa from FiBL.
Several discussion and exchange sessions took place between Access Agriculture and the team in Mali until the final script was approved.
After analysis, discussion, and observations made by Sidi and Amadou from Mali, we proceeded with the video shoot during the last week of May, in accordance with the program established at the annual project meeting held in Dakar.
Michel Kaba, our video producer, traveled to Sikasso by road on Monday, May 26, to exchange ideas with partners, meet with producers, and proceed with the shoot.
The first versions of the video on establishing a nursery were shared with partners to gather feedback and make adjustments to improve the content. After three months of editing and production work, the video on establishing a forest seedling nursery was finalized and uploaded in French and English to the Access Agriculture website on July 31, 2025. We also translated the video into the five languages of the project:
2. Intercropping with multipurpose trees
The first shoot in May did not allow the Access Agriculture team to edit the second video on intercropping due to a lack of images and important information. We also noticed that not enough farmers were using the intercropping technique.
This situation forced the Access Agriculture team to organize a new filming trip to Mali, specifically to Farako and Sikasso, from June 29 to July 4, 2025. The purpose of this trip was to interview farmers and take new footage for the video.
In collaboration with partners in Mali, the second shoot went well.
We edited the video in French and English, and it was published on the Access Agriculture website on August 25, 2025. We also translated the video into the five languages of the project:
